1. Scope
This policy covers copyright complaints about content available through Opal: material on this website and user-shared content such as public scripts and configurations. If you believe something here infringes your copyright, this page explains how to tell us and what happens next.
2. Reporting copyright infringement
Send a notice to support@mail.opal.wtf with the subject line "DMCA Notice". To be effective under 17 U.S.C. 512(c)(3), it must include:
- Identification of the copyrighted work you claim is infringed.
- Identification of the material you claim is infringing, with enough information for us to locate it, such as a URL or script identifier.
- Your contact information: name, address, telephone number, and email address.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
3. What we do with a valid notice
We review complete notices promptly. If the notice is valid, we remove or disable access to the identified material and notify the user who posted it, including a copy of the notice. Incomplete notices get a reply explaining what is missing.
4. Counter-notices
If your content was removed and you believe the removal was a mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notice to the same address. It must include:
- Identification of the removed material and where it appeared before removal.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification.
- Your name, address, and telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for your address (or, if outside the United States, any judicial district in which we may be found) and that you will accept service of process from the person who filed the original notice.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
If we receive a valid counter-notice, we forward it to the original complainant. Unless they notify us within 10 business days that they have filed a court action, we may restore the material within 10 to 14 business days.
5. Repeat infringers
Accounts that repeatedly post infringing content are terminated. We track valid notices per account and act on the pattern, not just the individual complaint.
6. Misrepresentation
Under 17 U.S.C. 512(f), anyone who knowingly and materially misrepresents that material is infringing, or that it was removed by mistake, can be liable for damages, including costs and attorneys' fees. Do not send false notices.
